Pickleball in Vietnam: Where to Play, What It Costs, and Courts Near the Cruise Ports

Posted by lantravel at 06/11/2026

Short answer: yes, you can play pickleball almost anywhere you travel in Vietnam. Every big city and most beach towns now have courts, you can rent one by the hour without joining a club, and it is cheap. The hard part for visitors is booking, because most courts take bookings by phone or Zalo, in Vietnamese.

The numbers below come from the court map by Vietnam Pickleball Travel, which our partner Kevin checked on 4 November 2026. It lists 87 courts in 10 places that visitors can actually reach.

Where the courts are

  • Hanoi: 9 courts, around the Old Quarter, West Lake, Ba Dinh and across the river.
  • Ninh Binh: 7 courts around Tam Coc, Hoa Lu and Gia Vien.
  • Ha Long: 10 courts in Bai Chay and Hon Gai, handy before or after a bay cruise.
  • Da Nang: 8 courts in the centre, Son Tra and on the road to Hoi An.
  • Hoi An: 6 courts in and around the old town.
  • Nha Trang: 10 courts by the beach and in the new complexes.
  • Da Lat: 9 courts around the lake.
  • Ho Chi Minh City: 8 courts in District 1, Thao Dien and near the airport.
  • Vung Tau: 10 courts near Front Beach, Back Beach and the road in from Saigon.
  • Phu Quoc: 10 courts in Duong Dong, on Long Beach and in An Thoi.

What it costs and when to play

A court usually costs about 50,000 to 230,000 VND per hour (roughly US$2 to US$9), shared by four players. Most courts are open from about 5am to 10pm. Early morning is the cheapest time, and 4pm to 8pm is the busiest and most expensive.

Because of the heat, play early in the morning or after 4pm. Da Lat is the exception: it is cool up in the highlands, so a midday game is fine there.

Can a visitor just turn up and play?

Yes. Courts are rented by the hour to anyone, and many clubs run social sessions you can pay to join. What you need is someone who can call or message the court in Vietnamese, and a paddle. A hotel can sometimes help with the booking. Or ask us.

On a cruise? Courts near the ports

Several cruise ports in Vietnam are in towns with a good number of courts: Ha Long, Nha Trang (if your ship docks at Cam Ranh, it is about an hour away), Vung Tau (close to Phu My port) and Phu Quoc. If you would rather spend part of your port day playing, tell us your ship, the date and your docking hours, and we will try to book a court and some local players near your port, and plan the rest of the day around it. For port times and distances, see our Vietnam cruise ports guide.

A whole trip with pickleball in it

If you want games every few days on a longer holiday, we run private pickleball trips together with Vietnam Pickleball Travel. Paddles and balls are provided, all levels are welcome, and you play with local club players:
