Please read first. Many governments, including the US, advise against travel to Myanmar because of armed conflict. Some travel insurance will not cover you while that advice is in place. Before you book, check your own government's advice and ask your insurer. We only run trips on the main tourist route, we fly between cities instead of driving, and we check the situation again before we confirm. If it is not OK, we tell you and we do not run the trip.
For people who really want to see Myanmar, understand the risks, and have checked their insurance. We left out Mandalay for now: the 2025 earthquake did a lot of damage around there.
Day 1: Arrive in Yangon. Shwedagon Pagoda at sunset.
Day 2: Fly to Bagan. Temples by e-bike or car, sunset over the plain. Between October and March there are hot-air balloon flights at sunrise, booked separately if they are running.
Day 3: More temples in Bagan, a village and the local market. No shopping stops unless you ask.
Day 4: Fly to Heho, drive to Inle Lake. Boat on the lake: the fishermen who row with one leg, the floating gardens.
Day 5: Inle Lake: stilt-house villages, a weaving workshop, a monastery on the water.
Day 6: Fly back to Yangon. Downtown in the afternoon.
Day 7: Transfer to the airport.
